This red and gold parka was found at the Bissel thrift store in Edmonton, Alberta.
This parka and outer shell had virtually no damage and just needed a gentle clean. The pointed hood suggests that the garment may be either French or Dene influenced.

The Huntress Parka

This parka was donated in Edmonton, Alberta. There is no tag or known origin, but we believe the coat may be Dene influenced due to the cut and some of the accents.

Both the outer shell and the wool garment needed a wash. The fur was completely replaced with white fox fur. There was a small hole in the armpit that needed stitching.

The parka is 41” long, and approximately 19/20” wide. The wingspan is 51”.

What’s interesting about this parka is that it came with a rifle case, hence the name “the huntress”. This case is 24” long, 4” wide on the smaller side, and 9” on the larger side. It opens on both ends so the wearer can thread a strap through and wear it on their back.

Double Curve Parka

Purchased in August 2022 via Etsy. This parka came from Toronto Ontario, and features a grey embroidered “double curve” design.

This parka came with severe staining and wearing around the elbow and cuffs. The fur was also disintegrating and the pompoms were completely destroyed.

Our artist started the restoration process with a deep clean and stain removal. They also removed some of the wear and pilling by shaving the wool component of the parka with commercial razors. Once the parka was thoroughly cleaned and dried, they artist  added a new fur lining to the hood and stitched a tear by the seam.
